Dsenyo's Design for Change
Winner of Dsenyo’s 2014 National Student Design for Change Jewelry Design Competition: Down to the Wire; Help Make Poaching History.
Challenge: Design a set of jewelry (earrings, bracelet, and a necklace) using snare wire, which is collected to help prevent illegal wildlife poaching in Africa. Mulberry Mongoose, located in Mfuwe, Zambia, reuses the wire to create jewelry and donates part of the proceeds towards local organizations such as the Zambian Carnivore Programme (ZCP) and the South Luangwa Conservation Society to help end wildlife poaching.
Design set (Necklace, Bracelet, Earrings) produced in Zambia and sold internationally on Dsenyo’s 2015 Jewelry line: sold in fair trade stores across the U.S., Australia, and online.
Included an all expenses paid trip to Mfuwe, Zambia to meet and work alongside local artisans and designers.
