Product Design & Development Assistant

Assists the Product Design and Development teams by creating/editing specification sheets, designing new merchandise, communicating with vendors, managing the PLM system, and assessing merchandise from sampling stages to final product.
Product Design & Development:
- Design new on-brand products for each season/release based on trend inspiration, current product lines, and customer feedback
- Technical Design: create flat line sketches in Adobe Illustrator + update as needed for linesheet and specs, confirming all measurements before sending to vendors
- Check all samples + tag them with vendor, season, and name of product
- Photograph and create comment sheets for all products throughout sampling stages
- Check all samples from 1st - photoshoot samples and all pattern strike offs ensuring product measurements, pattern size & colors, trims and fabrics are correct
Pattern Design:
- Create new on-brand patterns relevant to each season for new products
- Clean up all patterns and create rotatives/submission sheets to send to vendors
- Size them based on mock-ups and vendor limitations
- Ensure colors are Pantone Solid Coated and consistent with core colors where applicable
Product Quality Control:
- Check shipments when they arrive in the warehouse from overseas
- Check the product measurements, patterns, colors, trims, fabrics, barcodes, tags, and document any inconsistency’s
Monogramming Information:
- One of this companies main focuses is creating products that can be personalized by monograms
- Monogramming needs to be kept in mind while designing all new products and assigning measurements
- Test all samples that are considered for the upcoming season/release to ensure the area and fabric can be monogrammed
- Communicate with the in-house embroidery team on issues, create solutions, and communicate those with the creative team and vendors
- Decide & document all monogramming locations, sizes, and offerings
- Communicate any specific offerings (such as no initials, only names, letter restrictions) with the tech team to ensure it’s on the website correctly
Product Information Management:
- Create a Master Spreadsheet for each season/release, keep updated
- This spreadsheet should include: SKU, Description, Cost, Price, SRP, Weight, Qty/Carton, Qty/Ordered, UPC #(Barcodes), Technical Descriptions, Technical Descriptions w/ Coding
- Write Technical Descriptions for all new products & code for website
- Weigh all new products when we have a final samples
Microsoft Dynamics AX (PLM System Management):
- Upload all new items into AX for each season/release
- Upload UPCs (Barcodes)
- Assign Seasons
- Categorize
Sample Organization:
- Created and maintains a clear filing system for all product samples
- Photograph and file all new samples for each season
- Pull samples when needed and put them back in their respective spots when finished
